If It Looks Right...

With all these considerations in mind, it was time to see what the figures actually looked like on the bases.

10mm Figures on 20mm Bases

Unfortunately, a 10mm gun and crew can’t fit on a 20mm round (or square) base. All cavalry fit two to a 20mm base – 20mm is too cramped for three heavy cavalry. The big negative is that because the figures have little space about them, players would most likely be inclined to pick up the figures rather than the base.

10mm Figures on 25mm Bases

All troop types fit on 25mm bases. Three heavy cavalry fit fine. Perhaps the light cavalry, close-formed and open-order infantry bases look a little roomy. However, the big plus is that because the figures have a bit of space about them, players would be more inclined to pick up the base rather than the figures.

I cut the square MDF bases myself with a table-saw. The round bases are by Warbases. All the bases are 25mm wide and 25mm deep.
