Village Tap

I designed a 10mm community tap with a water trough, the tap being fitted in a stone pillar. I was inspired by pictures of village taps in a book on German buildings.
Public water taps, fountains, wells, and water pumps were most certainly far more numerous in the villages and towns of Napoleonic Europe than they are today. It was easy to forget that almost everyone’s source of water in those days was an outdoor public tap or well. It therefore seemed appropriate that every tabletop village should include a model of some kind to represent the local community’s water supply. It was tempting to stick the tap and trough model on the base with the thatched cottages
(see Post 190) but I thought its design better suited a more upmarket location. The 10mm tap and trough model is available as a kit here.
